Start with a small pinch form

Use a manageable piece of clay suited to your studio’s process. Work gradually around the form and pause to compare wall thickness. A small practice piece makes it easier to notice how pressure changes the shape.

Keep the base supported and avoid repeatedly thinning one spot. Follow your instructor’s guidance on moisture and working time. Set the piece aside when it becomes difficult to handle, and record what you would change in the next attempt.
